I got that red lip classic thing you like…

I’ve had a quiet week blogging wise as I’ve been a busy bee in other areas of my life. I wanted to do a quick outfit post before the weekend takes over. Dinner with my darling bestie and offered the perfect opportunity to get dolled up.

Red lips & they’re real mascara always give me a confidence boost. Tonight I also rocked a velvet tassled dress & let’s face it, it’s impossible not feel splendid in such a creation.

Food was so so, cocktails were abysmal, but the company was top class. Which just goes to show that all is well with a best friend in tow.

Have a great weekend.

My week (ish) in pictures…

I have been having a lazy, slouchy time of it clothes wise. As such I haven’t snapped too many outfit pics. That doesn’t mean I haven’t been galavanting. It seems a shame not to share some of the moments I’ve captured solely because I didn’t look glam that day. So, here we are, embarking on another week in pictures post. I hope you enjoy a wee nosey into my going ons.

I know a lot of folk find them tacky, but I loves me a mirror selfie. I snap one any time I feel cute or sometimes even when I look amusingly rough. Sushi & Ringo are also always wins.

I can’t recommend Jonathann Coe enough. If you are new to him I’d start with The Rotters Club & it’s follow up The Closed Circle. Once you have digested those melancholy triumphs, mosey on to this mysterious tale.

Drinks with Aidan, hotels with neon stags & my amazing little crazy face pulling niece are all things that bring me glee.

If you haven’t tried Lush’s Intergalactic bath bomb, you need to. Not only does it turn your bath into a blue bliss, but your skin continues to sparkle for hours. Strawberry gloss at Krispy Kreme are also a big hit.

Sometime’s you have to be prepared to do battle. Sabre tooth Tigers will step right out of line if you don’t show them who’s boss.

You’re my cup of tea….

My last spring coaxing post may have worked. We had a lovely mild & bright weekend, which gave me an opportunity to wear a pretty dress. My little sister got engaged last week. Needless to say I am excited, as are both the mother of bride & groom. So, we all went out for afternoon tea & talked weddings.

Dainty cakes & such a stunning venue called for a little effort. I whipped this beauty out of hibernation and launched operation pretty.

The cakes may have been delicate, but I am not.

Spring Forward….

I wish Spring would hurry along. Not just because I am perpetually freezing, but also because there are crazy cute pieces filling the shops. Here are a few beauties I cannot wait to get on my body.

Lavish Alice, Diamondoodles (Etsy), Yours Clothing, Simply Be.

Barnes, Asos, AmyBlueIllustration, Simply Be.

Meg Biram, Lindy Bop, Forever21, Feminist Apparell.

Primark, Asos Curve, Asos, Lindy Bop.

As soon as there is the slightest hint of spring in the air I am going to be one chic, flirty babe.

Bobby sox to Stockings….

I had high hopes for Saturday. My darling sister & I planned to visit the costume exhibit at Kelvingrove. As it’s so beautiful there we of course scheduled a blog shoot.

The pouring rain was our first impediment. Rain, especially when accompanied by roaring wind, is no friend to just styled hair. What really scuppered our plans was the discovery that the exhibit closed a week ago. Unfortunately these inconvienances rendered us both grumpy & squabbles ensued.

We pulled ourselves together & ended up getting some good shots. A rainy Saturday in Kelvingrove was too crazy for us, so we repaired to an Italian for lunch & then headed to the cinema. All was well.

As you know, I like to experiment with retro pieces. I love the print & shape of this skirt. It’s just on the right side of mumsy. Pairing it with a simple vest kicks it up a gear. While topping the look with a flower crown adds just a touch of whimsy.

This is for lovers…

St Valentine’s Day is almost upon us again; love it or loathe it is time to get smoochy. Personally, I fall into the adore it camp. What’s  not to like about a day dedicated to love? oh, I know, some folk think it’s too commercialised and others hate it when they’re single. To those folk I say, relax & feel the love. Be it a celebration of a lover or a friend, Valentine’s is the perfect opportunity to tell someone special how much they mean to you.

There’s no better way to spoil the object of your affections than finding their perfect gift. I like presents to be a bit different, but still sufficiently lovey dovey. With that in mind I have compiled a wee wish list to suit my needs.

Nipple Tassels – Bluebella, Scratch the World – Not on the High Street, Aftershave – Gant, Feminist Sweets – Feminist Apparel.

Chocolate grenade – Etsy (chocsforchaps), Body bow – Asos, Smartphone Projector – I want one of those, Mini Message in a Bottle – Etsy (cocospots).

January, don’t be cold…

If they made a movie of my life the tag line would be, One thing after another; which is an accurate summing up of this year so far. Hence, I have not been getting my blog on. Fear not, I’m back.

I finally managed to get done outfit pictures whilst having a wee sushi & cinema night. I’m chuffed with this outfit as it was pulled together from wardrobe scraps. The dress is just a simple jersey maxi that I have tucked & tweaked. Add a big underskirt & da da..

Dress – New Look

I also trialed this amazing blanket scarf from my super sister. It is ultra warm, which this cold fish needs. Another first wear was this bracelet. It has a sentimental quote that only really means something to me. I love it.

Choose DIY…

Last year I discovered that I rather enjoy festooning my hair with flowers. Be it fresh blooms or elaborate flower crowns. However, I have been struggling to find a new adornment that matches the creation I have in my mind. Since I really wanted my imagined accessory I had no option but to take matters into my own hands.

I am not an incredibly crafty person. I lack precision & patience. It seems, though, that flower crowns may be my forte. Armed with artificial flowers, a satin hairband & big tube of superglue I embarked on a diy adventure.

Half way.

I enjoyed my creative session & was even more pleased with the finished result. So much so that I am already dreaming up my next crowning glory.

Gonna find out who’s naughty or nice….

I have a confession to make. I open presents. I just can not wait. If you give me a pressie of any description early, I’ll have it opened seconds after you leave. This year I was determined to behave & save all my gifts for the big day. That was until a mystery package arrived & I did what any girl would do; tore it open immediately. I genuinely didn’t realise it was a a Xmas present, but nevertheless I have been naughty again.

My darling friend Jenna has clearly been reading this blog as nestled inside that package was something I really, really wanted.

This pendant was made for me. Plath is one of literary heroes. I adore her words & let’s face it, these words could have been written about me.  I haven’t taken it off since it arrived.

Once again I am reminded that my people are the best people. Thank you, Jenna. Big love.

Snow is falling…

I’m diving into the festive spirit this year. Love & sparkle & food & presents are exactly what I need. I’d like to finish this dodgy year on a high point & so, I am immersing myself in all things joyous.

First up, my nails. I don’t mind telling you my normally pretty talons have been looking a tad shabby of late. Not anymore; they are now shiny & bejewelled. How can my joy quota not be upped when I have diamontes shimmering on my fingers.

Unfortunately doing your nails whilst incredibly sleep deprived can sometimes make your snowflakes go a wee bit spider webby. It matters not, they’re still cute & I am one step closer to Santa.
