You’re gonna hear me roar…..

On Tuesday I decided to be a lady who lunches & of course shops a little too. I enrolled my wonderful best friend in the scheme & off we popped. We both managed to pick up cheery bits, including some glorious Mac newbies. I opted for their new eyeliner pencil in a vibrant green, with which I can’t wait to experiment (& review).

Since it has been snowing again this week I plumped for cute & cosy with a skater dress, maxi cardi combi. I decided to break some more of those darn fashion rules by mixing animal prints. I usually adore this leaping tiger dress, but I feel I look really out of proportion in these pictures. As you know, I’ve lost weight, but my boobs remain unchanged. The result is they look a bit if of control. I’m hoping styling the dress differently will return it to something I feel awesome in.

Step into my office, baby ….

I had a fairly important meeting last week & whilst I don’t really do corporate, I did want to look smart. I opted for this colourful, but almost conservative look.

Unfortunately I hated every single picture taken of this outfit, but have opted for the least offensive. Note the big, fat side bun, a recent innovation I’m enjoying.

Bag – Accesorize

This is my go to presentation bag as it fits my NetBook & everything else I need. I also love it’s giant tassel. The only downside is once it’s all in there it weighs a tonne.

Cold as ice…..

In the quiet time between xmas & new year my sister & I took advantage of a crisp, bright day to take Seb for a nice long walk. We of course also found time for a spot of outfit photography. It was a lovely day, but still very cold, hence I wrapped up warm in my ‘sleeping bag’ coat. It’s not the most glamorous outerwear, but it’s oh so cosy.

This wool skater dress is also perfect for a winter walk. It’s delightfully comfortable plus lovely & warm. The autumnal/wintery colour palettes have long been my favourites, but any yellow tones have been particularly taking my fancy of late. This mustard colour gives an additional impression of warmth. It’s a top cold weather dress.

I was in a crazy rush getting ready that day & just flung my hair up. Without knowing how, I constructed lovely voluminous bun. Of course all attempts to recreate it have failed miserably.

Here is the main man creeping into shot. He seems determined to get in every photograph he’s not supposed to be in.

Sale of the century …..

I haven’t had much of a chance to check out all the high street sales yet, but I did find the time peruse the Asos sale. And what a sale it was. So many adorable things for hardly any pennies. I’ve placed my first order, but I have more items saved for later, which are likely to end up in my already over stuffed wardrobe.

These are the beauties I am awaiting.

I’ve not really been a fan of the duster coat trend, but this one spoke to me (it said ‘buy me’).

I’ve been prevaricating about sheer for a while now. I’ve seen lots of folk look awesome in it, but was concerned the scars on my tum would be visible. Well, the long & the short of it is, I said ‘fuck it’. Can’t wait to rock this.

This is standard choice for me. All things red must be mine & this style of dress is uber flattering on me. It’s wool, so should help me through some cold days.

I only ordered the trousers. I don’t really have use for another floral type jacket. I desperately wanted palazzo pants all summer, but couldn’t find a plus size pair I both liked aesthetically & felt good in. I know these are out of season, but I shall save them for summer. Or with a bit of luck I’ll wear then on my next Aussie trip.

Last & most definitely best is this leather look jacket. You may remember my failed search for the perfect leatherish jacket, well failed no more! This is right in every single way, it even has some yearned for faux fur. I need this on my body ASAP.

Thanks Asos Curve I love you & your fabulous fat clothes!

Up on the roof….

I succumbed to cabin fever on Saturday night & took a taxi into town to see a film with my wee sis. I tried my best to get dolled up, but I’m not sure I was entirely successful. Anyway, it felt good to be out .this

I opted for this amazing tassle vest. I adore the electric blue, it gives a real kick to a simple black outfit. I teamed it with this dip hem skirt & a cosy black cardi to keep out the October chill. Our shoot failed to get off the ground due to a down pour, so we headed up in the air to get some photographs. The cineworld in Glasgow is, bizarrely, the tallest cinema in the world, which makes a great back drop for cool chicks in cool dreads.

Despite some bemused onlookers, I even managed a shimmy. Nothing beats shaking your tassles.

Oh & we saw ‘A walk amongst the tombstones’. It wasn’t incredibly original, but I like Liam Neeson & a thriller always pleases me. I’d say it is worth a watch.

Take from me, my lace….

Last weekend a sunny day lured me into a window shopping trip with sister. My darling sibling wanted to check out some luxury items, so we took a wander around Frasers & scoped out their designer offerings. She actually really wanted to investigate some Louboutins, but there were a complete lack of the iconic shoes. Disappointed, we moved on to a little high street sale rummaging. We both did well in sticking with the looking not buying position until we made the mistake of entering Primark.
The weather & their summer stock conspired against us, we both left with armfuls of bright, funky seasonal pieces. At Primark prices it is just too hard to resist.

Shopping done we headed to one of my favourite haunts to snap some photos. This beautiful red sandstone building is home to The Polo Lounge, Glasgow’s best gay club. I have been enjoying its architecture, atmosphere & beverages for longer than I care to admit. This shoot (ha) sparked an idea to take my blog pics at favourite spots around the city. Stay tuned.

My lace skater had its debut for this outing. I loved it when I saw it on the website, but when it arrived I was uncertain. However once I got it one, I was swooning over it again. I added a belt & some contrasting red bits and felt I rocked it.

I also have some adorable new glasses (more on them soon), which finished off this look perfectly.

In the year of the cat…

Another Thursday brought another night out with my wee sis. This week we were headed to see The grand Budapest hotel, but had some time to spare. So, we had a little impromptu photo shoot by the river Clyde. It was a lot colder than either of us had expected, hence the ‘modelling’ was brief. Luckily my sister managed to get a couple of pictures I was reasonably happy with.

I very rarely like myself in photographs. I don’t enjoy having them taken & for many years avoided being in any snaps. It’s a shame really as there are a lot of special occasions that I have no record of. In particular I regret not having more pictures taken with my niece. I am trying to rectify that now, by photographing almost every minute I manage to spend with her. I think my reluctance to be captured on camera is one of my the few remaining body image hang ups. This blog is helping me address that as I am forced both pose for & share pictures of me. None of which I am ever completely happy with. My personal body positive revolution continues…

Instead of my usual, slightly haphazard wear whatever takes my fancy approach, I actually planned this outfit. I decided on a little bit of a feline theme. I don’t usually do cutesy. In fact adults in overly cute clothes are one of my pet hates. Disney princesses are for children, ladies. However, I did instantly fall in love with this beaded cat vest. I’ve never seen another one like it nor have I ever seen anyone else wearing it, which makes this a perfect piece for me.

This skirt is one my amazing ASOS bargains. I snapped it up in the sale last summer for a fiver. I love the harlequin twist on monochrome. Plus it is an ideal length. As much as I love pencil skirts, they usually cut me off at the worst point on my legs. This skirt is just that little bit shorter, which works so much better for me. I know a bit part of the fat acceptance movement is the ‘fuck flattering ‘train of thought. I am all for this if you it makes you feel good, but for me, there is some styles that I just don’t like my body in.

I added a little bit of colour with the waterfall cardigan & a little tummy help my trusty support leggings. I have about a million pairs of these & really wish they’d do them in a range of colours.

Oh & I continued my kitty theme with this bangle. Another atypical choice for me, but the heart wants what it wants.

Last, but not least, I tried out some more eye transfers. As promised I was much more adventurous. I think these could be really fabulous with some dramatic eye make up for a bight night out.

The film was awesome. You just can’t beat a Wes Anderson movie. My only minor complaint, I wanted way more Bill Murray. Go see it!
