Treat me right…

I had a few hours to kill on Tuesday. Well, I was actually putting off going home & doing the housework. In any case I ended up with an accidental mini haul.

I have had a bit of scent anxiety of late as I was down to my last bottle of Issey. I am a very loyal when it comes to perfume. I’ve been wearing Issey Miyake since I was a teenager. It is my smell & I love it. So, when I saw this summer edition of Issey on sale I couldn’t resist. It is my familiar floral scent with a hint of rose. The pink bottle is pretty too.

I saw this unicorn bag & had to have it. Not only is it very cute, but I needed it for all my purchases. The next of which was these very cool little lenses for my phone camera. I have only had a wee play with them so far, but I’m really liking the results. This set includes a fish eye, macro & wide angle lens. They come with a handy clip, so it’s incredibly easy to whip them on & off of my phone. Look out for improved pictures. The toy boy was at a festival last weekend & brought me home those amazing wooden beads. He is so good at picking little treats for me, I love them.

I wanted to return the favour with a wee surprise for him. I searched for ages before finding this dancing baby Groot. We both love Guardians of the Galaxy & who can resist a wee Groot. In the same shop I spotted this amazing cup that allows you to make your own slushies. I am so excited about this because now I can make frozen Coke! Long time readers will know that I fell in love with frozen Coke in Australia & have been pining for it ever since. I can now be reunited with my one true love.

My final stop was Superdrug to pick up some skincare treats. I really love these 7th Heaven face masks. The are completely vegan & cruelty free with the bonus of leaving my skin feeling great. Obviously I aim to be beautiful top to toe so these foot mask booties are ideal. Everyone  loves soft tootsies, right? They are of course also cruelty free.

Black seaweed mask was both effective & very enjoyable.

Everybody wants to be a cat…

I had a lunch date with my Mum & sis on Saturday, which seemed liked a good opportunity for an over due outfit post. It turned out to be a day of surprises, but very nice ones.

Anyway, back to the fashion. I combined my love of cats with my fondness  for swing skirts & donned this kitch beauty.

Skirt – Lindy Bop

Vest – Forever21

Cardi – John Lewis

Necklace – Gift

It wouldn’t be a ly outfit without an injection of colour, a box my Pom poms perfectly ticked. Oh & my eye make up helped too.

The food was yum, the news was good & my mum even treated me to a colourful new skirt. Saturday win.

My week in pictures…

It’s Saturday night & I’m watching Die Hard 2 in my jammies. I say this not as a complaint. It is pretty much the perfect end to a great week. I’m definitely on the sore side, but at least I earned the aches having fun. And, so, I give you my week in pictures.

The toy boy went to a festival last weekend, so I did a little shopping & eating with my darling sister. Followed by drinks with friends & experiments with new lippy shades. The week proper began with some catching up with my man. A home cooked meal, brand new baby doll nightie & a lot of carry on.

A hump day movie night was disappointing for me, but a hit with the toy boy. Surely I’m not alone on thinking there are too many damn Spider-Man movies? Calderglen Country Park on a sunny day made up for the dud film.

Amongst scans, bloods tests & pitching to editors I found time to treat myself to some beauty bits & pieces. Namely more nail products. My manicures continue to be fancy af. There has also been vegan delights galore & lots of feline antics.

I capped the week with science frolics. The adult only Science lates at Glasgow Science Centre are more enjoyable than I’d imagined. All the fun of the interactive Science malls, planterium & live shoes with added cocktails. Trust me those optical illusions get even more freaky after a few tipples.

Of course it wouldn’t be a week in pictures without some random interspersed shots of things that grabbed my attention. Oh & project post it continues to spread some wisdom.

Fathers be good to your daughters…

Last Sunday was Father’s Day, so my sis & I treated dad to a bit of lunch. We also bestowed upon him soppy cards & our delightful chatter. As the sun still had it’s hat on, we also snapped some outfit photos.

I had opted for a wee bit of gold brocade dressed down with a vest & some pins.

Skirt – Glad Rags

Bandeau Vest – Primark

Cardigan – New Look
The cardi wasn’t really required; a lighter floatier cover up would have been more suitable. It’s hard to choose outfits when the weather might change at any minute. Glasgow fashionistas have it hard! On the plus side, finding a bit of greenery for a an impromptu photo shoot is never a problem.

She’s most accommodating when she’s in her lingerie…

Big boobs need good bras. When you’re an HHcup you just can’t get away with anything but excellent support. If you also prefer lingerie to granny bras your search narrows. If you’d rather not go bankrupt every time you require some new undies, well, the pickings are slight. Hence, my eternal quest for affordable & attractive homes for my breasts.

I am not averse to indulging in seductively expensive lingerie. I love an exquisite bra. Alas my purse is not as capacious as my brassiere & sometimes a budget must be adhered to. As I mentioned, I struggle to find pretty & supportive undergarments that come in a lower price range. So, when I find a new place to procure such items, I’m delighted. Thus, I was very pleased when the lovely folks at Simply Be invited me to try some pieces from their lingerie lines.
I opted for these bright lace bras. They come in a two pack in various colours including black & white. I’m a colour girl, so the pink/aqua appealed. I was initially a little dubious about how good quality these would be given their price (£26 for both), but I couldn’t have been more wrong.

Pretty Secrets, Ella.

These bras offer great support, give my breasts a lovely shape & look super cute whilst being comfortable. The lace detailing is pretty & the wider straps prevent them from digging into my shoulders. This is a near perfect everyday bra.

Additionally I selected a garment I wouldn’t usually choose; a light control slip. I’m not a fan of control wear in general, mainly because of the discomfort that accompanies wearing them. This one caught my attention for a few reasons. Firstly it was described as light & stretchy, which happily makes it very easy to wear. The fact that it sits under ones bra was another plus as it allows the flexibility of choosing whichever lingerie best suits the occasion. Finally, I have recently purchased a couple of dresses that I adore, but feel a tiny bit self conconscious about my tum in. Flying in the face of my distaste for shapewear, I love this. I wore it with an LBD on Saturday night & forgot that it was on. It did exactly what I wanted it to do, smoothed out the bumps on my stomach that sometimes bother me. The Magisculpt slip is another win.

WYOB Magisculpt full slip.

* These items were gifted, but all opinions are genuine.

My week (ish) in pictures…

To be honest it’s more like a month in pictures as I have spent a lot of time in bed the last few weeks. Hey ho, I have still managed to wear some cute looks, have a bit of fun & snap interesting things.

I made it out one weekend to Yellow Movement Sunday. It’s a monthly gig featuring local talent. This month’s included Scottish hip hop & reggae from Skaledonia, Busker Rhymes & Umbungo Nambarie. The event  was raising funds for Suicide Prevention, which I was very happy to support. Check out their Facebook for next month’s line up.

I’ve rocked some smashing nail art  & debuted new accessories. I caught a few sun rises, including this corker. There have been even more pills to take & moustache experimentation.

My neice, Athena, clued me in on zombie eyes, shopkins, how pesky her Dad is & much much more. Our facetimes are always a highlight of my week. I haven’t been able to see much of baby Kevin as I didn’t want to make him sick. He loves my dangly light shade & I love this picture of him playing with it.

Work took me to the Ibis Style in Glasgow. I took the toyboy along to make it more fun & he didn’t disappoint. We nipped out for a yummy bento box & then just chilled in the big comfy bed. He also did a little hiding behind the curtains because that’s what toy boys do. It’s a cool hotel with a strong Glasgow theme, which I think tourists would love. The most important parts of any hotel for me are good bathroom & breakfast. Ibis gets a big tick for both.

There has also been a lot of staying home in jammies, Sundays in bed, cosy comfy outfits & snuggles with Bronan. Oh, I also met a puppy & project post it is still going strong.

Hope you’ve all survived January. It has certainly been eventful on a global scale. Fingers crossed for a reduction in crazy next month.

I’d call that a bargain…

On Wednesday I was passing Primark & nipped in for a glass nail file. I’m sure you can all guess what happened next. Thus, I bring to you my mini haul.

I did head straight to the cosmetics section fully intending to buy the nail file & leave. Unfortunately I spotted some pretty shinies & my will power wavered. These metallic stickers jumped right into my basket. Apparently they’re for your face, but I suspect mine will end up on my nails or a notebook or a phone case or who cares, they’re pretty!

In keeping with the coppery theme , I lurched towards this beauty.

For the uninformed it’s correct name is a comedone extracter. In simple terms it pops out blackheads. Gross, but also, essential.

My magpie eye then lured towards this concealer/brightener. I’m usually a touché eclait girl, but have just run out & need a stop gap until my bank account has recovered from Christmas. I’ve read surprisingly good reviews about this & as it costs £3 I have nothing to lose. At worst I’m going to look less flawless for a week or two. I can deal.

Having grabbed some beauty bargains I was again to determined to go immediately to the till, but the placement of super soft basics foiled me again. So, multiple bright leggings & cute jumper later I’ve given into Primark’s cheap seduction.

This time the sports wear has caught my eye. Don’t laugh, it’s the crop top/sports bra type things that appeal. I’ve actually been hunting for a style that offers both comfort & support for a while. Many expensive brands have come up wanting; it’s down to the fast fashion queen to save the day. These £4 offerings are perfect. Hold the girls up & feel lovely. Just right for my more painful days. Bonus is the bright colours. I bought a bundle.

Feeling rather pleased with myself I joined the check out queue before the heat in there killed me (seriously, why so hot?). Of course it is impossible to get to the actual till without impulse buying face wipes, screen wipes, hair bobbles & glittery nail polish. Primark, you’re sneaky & you know it.

Somewhere beyond the sea…

I am a bad fashion blogger. I keep forgetting to take outfit pictures. What’s worse is I’ve missed some really good looks. Anyway, here’s a quickie & I’ll definitely get some more this weekend.

I’ve wanted a pinafore dress like this for ages, but everything I tried on was wrong. I snapped this one up with my ASOS VIP points & crossed my fingers it would look cute on. Lucky me, it did.

I wore it with my denim shirt for warmth whilst running around getting some messages done & it’s perfect. Very comfortable, very flexible &  very adorable. Even if I do say so myself.

Pinafore – Asos Curve

Shirt – New Look

Leggings – ASOS Curve

Boots – Vegetarian Shoe Co

Badge – Gift

The pics were taken at the cinema after seeing Deepwater Horizon. Hence, the weepy eyes. I cried buckets, but I highly recommend. Based on the true story of America’s worst oil rig disaster, it is worth seeing. The bravery of the people involved is stunning. Kurt Russell is amazing as the boss with integrity trying to look after his staff & contain the catastrophe. John Malkovich is equally great as the unscrupulous company man. It’s so easy to miss the individual stories in such a devastating event, Deepwater Horizon plugs that information gap perfectly.

My month in pictures…

September turned out to be a busy month. Between birthdays, photo shoots & kidney infections I have been kept on my toes. So, rather than bore you with all the millions of details I present a month in pictures.

First up, let’s do the birthdays. Young & old it’s all going off in sept. My midwife bff assures me September is always the busiest month birth wise; must be down to all that seasonal goodwill.

There were bath bombs & vegan chocolate cake. Dinners with friends & face paints with little friends. I’m doing something big for my birthday next month, so the actual day was low key, but lovely. Not featured is the birthday of my darling big bro, mostly because him & his family popped off on holiday. Not that I’m jealous.

Now, I bet you’re all wondering what I’ve been munching this past month, well I’ll tell you. A lot of sushi, mint tea, avocados & vegan treats. There might have been few tipples in there too. Well, it was my birthday.

I’ll pause now for some lovely/amusing things I’ve snapped.

Ok, back to definable categories. September saw my involvement in my first ever photo shoots. I was a jack of all trades whilst overseeing the shoots for my body positive project. I got through it with the help of many talented people & topped it off by posing in my pants. Who knew, right?

Style wise my nails & I were making the transition to A/W. Autumn is my favourite season, so I’m tickled to be breaking out boots & scarfs. The weather is as unpredictable as ever, so it’s impossible to determine when these cosier items may actually be needed.

One of my new weekend activities is wedding shopping with a certain someone. The pursuit of the prettiest things has had me trekking all over, but it’s all quite peachy.

Time for a selfie break.

& some random bits & pieces to finish on.

I hope you all had a dreamy 9th month & fingers crossed you can rock October.

I want to be rainbow high…

On Saturday I had the pleasure of going wedding dress shopping with my beautiful sister. Bil & Mum were also in toe to admire & offer opinions.

Wedding dress shopping is rather nice. The troublesome part is my sister looks stunning in just about every dress. Plus as soon as a veil appears I start bubbling. Luckily all spectators were in sync with regards to which dresses were contenders. The bride to be decided there is still more shopping to be done.

So, what did I wear to whitest enviroment in the world? All the colours, of course. I’ve had this rainbow delight for a couple of weeks & have been dying to get it on. It’s a super comfy maxi with the cutest crochet top.

Dress – Simply Be

Cardi – Primark
The colours & the crochet make it feel very summery. Alas, Autumn appears to be upon us in Glasgow, but this will definitely be going in my Australia suitcase, which is in need of cool day dresses.

After shopping we had some lunch in a cosy/cool pub where Bil & I couldn’t resist messing around with the mirrors.
