Darling, hold my hand…

Friday seems to have become my social hub. I’m still mostly pottering away at home. Shops & indoor pursuits still don’t feel safe, but I am down for a wee afternoon in the park.

Since the little ones no longer need to social distance my bestie & niece joined us for an adventure. We went to one of my favourite places & had a ball. It drizzled a little, but with highland cows, dinosaurs & fairies to find the rain did not dampen our spirits.

I paired up some striped staples with my new kimono and felt cute. The rain might not have spoilt our fun, but it did ruin my hair. Oh well, no one’s locks look tip top during a pandemic.

Despite now being predictably sore all over, I regret nothing. These little rascals are irresistible & their Mummies aren’t bad either.

I love to live so pleasantly….

Last Saturday the sun decided to shine on Glasgow. My sister & I took full advantage of the glorious weather by raiding our summer wardrobes & hitting the Burrell.

The Burrell collection is one of my favourite places. It’s the private collection of Sir Wiliam Burrell, a man with eclectic tastes & a generous spirit.  As well as collecting 9000 precious articles he worked to improve housing & conditions for the poor of Glasgow. As a final act of generosity he donated his entire collection to the city of Glasgow for all to enjoy.

The collection is an intriguing mix of distinct items. From Chinese pottery, to ancient church facades & stunning sculpture. It’s housed in the most amazing building nestled in pollok country park. A innovative piece of architecture that combines steel & glass with sandstone. The building has Tudor rooms built into its fabric, whilst also managing to create light airy spaces. In short it’s fabulous.

The Burrell holds a special charm for me as my Dad took myself & my siblings here frequently as children. I have been bewitched by this place since I was little. I have also harboured a desire to get married there, but with no prospective groom, that remains unlikely.

Anyway, for my visit to this most chilled of museums I opted for a distinctly loud outfit. I love colour & summer always seems to scream at me for more. Hence, the yellow ra ra skirt.

All that culture worked up an appetite, so we rounded off the day with a sushi feast.

I’ll leave you with my favourite spot at the Burrell, the place I’d make my vows should I decide that I’m the marrying kind. I love how they’ve managed to bring the surrounding woodland in. Standing in this spot you feel steeped in greenery & perfectly still.

I get a little warm in my heart when I think of winter…

Saturday was one of those perfect winter days. The air was crisp, no sign of rain & cold enough to wrap up without fear of freezing your arse off. So, when my sister suggested taking her lovely Seb for a walk I jumped at the chance. I have actually been missing the Sebster, so it was nice to get a look at his handsome face. We decided to head to Pollok Country Park, which is an amazing piece of country right in th middle of the city. It’s also home to the Burrell Collection, a herd of highland cattle,Maxwell house as well as dozens of woodland walks. In short it was perfect for Seb to roam free & for us to get some cool blog photos.

This is a new look for me. I’ve always been very self conscious about leggings & worn with either skirts or tunics. This skeleton pair are crying out to have all their bones exposed, so I stepped out of my comfort zone. I mostly wanted to be comfortable and cosy for our walk. With this in mind I teemed the leggings with my Ghostbusters t-shirt (a childhood fav), layered cardigans & a scarf. My trusty sparkly boots stood me in good stead in the mucky park.

I have to say I am chuffed with these pictures. I am loving this fun casual look so much that I may well invest in some more statement leggings.
