When Saturday comes…

Ikea on a hot Saturday afternoon is probably not a good idea, but when you have the coolest sister & cutest baby nephew anything is fun. When you get all the bits you need and finally snap a good outfit pic it’s a successful Saturday.

This dress is so old, but I bloody love it. Every summer I hope Monsoon will bring out another similar design, but so far I have been disappointed. I try to ration wearing it because I always feel amazing in it and I really dread the day it dies.

Kimono – Truly Yours

This kimono is another old favourite and I added a new one to the mix with these cherry earrings. The Baba is particularly fond of the cherries, it’s a very good thing he is learning to be gentle or my ears might not survive.

If the print wasn’t enough to make you fall for this dress, it has pockets! Three cheers for feel good Saturdays.

Summer lovin…

It’s wedding season again & this year scotland even has the weather for it. Summer weddings are so much more fun when you can have some fizz in the sun. The rising temperatures also make cute floaty dresses an option. I have a couple of weddings to attend in upcoming months, so I’ve put together a wee collection of wedding guest attire.

Obviously, me being me, I don’t want any boring formal wear. Thus I’ve been scouring the summer lines for wedding suitable dresses that I can still feel myself in. I don’t have a specific look, I tend to dip into lots of different styles because I’m too random to commit to just one. The common thread is often being a little on the weird side & never blending into background. Luckily, the high street has plenty to offer that fits the bill.

Lindy Bop are always a good first stop on the search for a fancy dress. I love their retro styles & funky prints. I’ve yet to wear one of their creations that didn’t garner a million compliments. My top pick is this amazing jungle print 50’s piece. You couldn’t fail to feel like a starlet in it.

Keeping with the 50’s theme, but giving a slightly more sedate impression is this beauty. It’s basically an LBD with a little extra magic.

How wouldn’t want to be adorned in starlit woodland love?

Coast is one of those shops that always has a few gems hidden amongst the predictable. This dress is one of those sparkling finds. I love the light, flouncy layers, I bet it looks amazing on the dance floor.

Florals are standard affair for June weddings, but turn up the colour volume & they really come to life.

This wrap number from Lovedrobe would be perfect for drinks & canapés in the grounds of any luxe wedding venue. If you’re looking something more unique Elvi have you covered. This is is the prettiest jumpsuit I’ve ever seen. Flirty, floaty & graced with a cape. It’s the superhero of nuptial fashion.

I couldn’t do a dress guide without including my current colour fad. I am digging everything orange this summer & this tea dress is not the exception. It’s so fresh & vivid. The cut outs add a little sex appeal whilst remaining subtle enough to be worn in a church. Asos have knocked it out of the park again.

If I can’t exclude my flavour of the month it would certainly be remiss not to my mention true colour love; red. You can never have too many red dresses. I can see absolutely no cons to this particular example. The lace is so delicate, the fluted sleeves are divine & that v neck is just deep enough. Asos are on a roll.

Just a girl in a t-shirt…

On Monday night I finally made it out of house. I’ve been having a fairly bad flair and struggled to do anything at all last week. With the pain a bit more manageable & a brand new dress to wear I was excited to step out.

Cinema & sushi night with my sister is an enjoyable, but low impact excursion. It’s perfect for when I’m not feeling tip top. As is this t shirt dress. It’s super comfy & cosy whilst also being beautifully cut. The vivid print is just what is needed to chase away the January gloom.  In short it’s effortlessly perfect.

I also tried out some new slap. Barry M is one of my current make up favs. I’m absolutely loving this range of metallic lip paints & their strobing cream has ousted every other highlighter in my make up bag.

Matte me up in Allure.

Strobe cream in Galactic.

After a week of jammies & greasy hair I felt pretty good. A thorough catch up with my sis & a giant Diet Coke left me feeling much improved.

Incidentally, we saw Darkest Hour. Gary Oldman was great, but the film was only ok. If you know anything of Churchill you probably won’t appreciate this portrayal of him as the ordinary people’s hero. I wouldn’t rush to see it.

Twinkle, twinkle…

Today I overcame some spectacular heartburn with the aid of some sparkly boots. I’m now convinced that all manner of things may be achieved when your feet are not only warm & dry, but also just a teeny bit twinkly. I headed out with sister to engage in some party planning & ended up having a really lovely day.

So, after buying many, many balloons & a few less avocado maki we nipped out to river for some photographs. Today’s outfit was a mixture of the old & the new. I’ve gone down two sizes, so I’m now fitting into this lacy vest, which I kind of love mainly because it makes me boobs look perky. I have always been a big fan of the stretchy mini, fling in a busy pattern & I’m sold. Last, but not least is my brand new, super cosy cardigan. It’s a tiny bit starsky & hutch, but oh man is it warm.

it was a cold september before the indian summer…

As promised I ventured out this week. It wasn’t the wildest of outings, but it still felt good to put on a dress & a lick of mascara. My sister I resumed out little cinema club, but first we headed to the gorgeous Blythswood sq for some blog photos.

September is being very kind to this year, which allowed me to give this little sun dress another outing. I picked this & another similar dress up in Primark earlier this summer. I love the colour combo & the patchyworky print. I love that my boobs fit happily into this bandeau style. I often have trouble in that area with no plus size labels. I felt very cute in this dress, which can only be a good thing.

Cinema club kicked off again with, Before I go to sleep. I read the book that it’s based on a few years ago & enjoyed it. I really liked the film; it perfectly captured the suspense of the novel. I’d recommend checking out both the book & the movie.

Finally. this week’s nail looked like this
