Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside….

I took a little trip to see my friend & her lovely boy on Friday. She lives in Musselburgh, which is a seaside town outside Edinburgh. I love any excuse to get close to the sea & Lisa (and James) is a fabulous reason to go anywhere.

It was chilly & wet when I set off so I employed my new beret to keep my head warm. I don’t wear many hats as I don’t usually look great in them. Thus, I was surprised to discover that berets are totally my thing.

I was also chuffed with the new dress I donned. I’ve had my eye on this for ages and finally snapped it up in the sale a few weeks ago. The cat print is purrfect & the colour matches my eyes.

Beret – House of Bruar (gift)

I really love the neckline on this dress. The fit is superb & the large pockets are a dream.

I can only share the mirror selfie as I had so much fun with my east coast chums that I forget to get any pictures. However, I did remember to snap some photos of our escapades.

You’re my cup of tea….

My last spring coaxing post may have worked. We had a lovely mild & bright weekend, which gave me an opportunity to wear a pretty dress. My little sister got engaged last week. Needless to say I am excited, as are both the mother of bride & groom. So, we all went out for afternoon tea & talked weddings.

Dainty cakes & such a stunning venue called for a little effort. I whipped this beauty out of hibernation and launched operation pretty.

The cakes may have been delicate, but I am not.

Spring Forward….

I wish Spring would hurry along. Not just because I am perpetually freezing, but also because there are crazy cute pieces filling the shops. Here are a few beauties I cannot wait to get on my body.

Lavish Alice, Diamondoodles (Etsy), Yours Clothing, Simply Be.

Barnes, Asos, AmyBlueIllustration, Simply Be.

Meg Biram, Lindy Bop, Forever21, Feminist Apparell.

Primark, Asos Curve, Asos, Lindy Bop.

As soon as there is the slightest hint of spring in the air I am going to be one chic, flirty babe.

Bobby sox to Stockings….

I had high hopes for Saturday. My darling sister & I planned to visit the costume exhibit at Kelvingrove. As it’s so beautiful there we of course scheduled a blog shoot.

The pouring rain was our first impediment. Rain, especially when accompanied by roaring wind, is no friend to just styled hair. What really scuppered our plans was the discovery that the exhibit closed a week ago. Unfortunately these inconvienances rendered us both grumpy & squabbles ensued.

We pulled ourselves together & ended up getting some good shots. A rainy Saturday in Kelvingrove was too crazy for us, so we repaired to an Italian for lunch & then headed to the cinema. All was well.

As you know, I like to experiment with retro pieces. I love the print & shape of this skirt. It’s just on the right side of mumsy. Pairing it with a simple vest kicks it up a gear. While topping the look with a flower crown adds just a touch of whimsy.

Pink, it’s not even a question….

It feels like forever since I have done an outfit post. I keep wearing my funkiest looks when I have no photographer. Anyway, here’s a cosy wee number I put together for a walk with my sister & Seb.

This skirt & t shirt are bargains from a recent haul. The ‘sorry, not sorry’ print amuses me & woolly skirts keep my bum warm; what’s not to love?

I also discovered that if you feel a bit dodgy pink lipstick will go a long way in perking you up. This bright hue is from Nyx, whose products I am fast falling for.

I actually can’t stop wearing this skirt. It’s just so perfect for this time of year. So, here’s a sneaky wee selfie of another look.

How cute am I?

January, don’t be cold…

If they made a movie of my life the tag line would be, One thing after another; which is an accurate summing up of this year so far. Hence, I have not been getting my blog on. Fear not, I’m back.

I finally managed to get done outfit pictures whilst having a wee sushi & cinema night. I’m chuffed with this outfit as it was pulled together from wardrobe scraps. The dress is just a simple jersey maxi that I have tucked & tweaked. Add a big underskirt & da da..

I also trialed this amazing blanket scarf from my super sister. It is ultra warm, which this cold fish needs. Another first wear was this bracelet. It has a sentimental quote that only really means something to me. I love it.

Swing when you’re winning…

I had a little thing on Monday evening. I did my hair all pretty, but then made the foolish mistake of going out in the wind & rain. I returned home with hair that looked like a hedge. I did a last minute rethink & pimped my bun with some fresh flowers. Let me tell, flowers in your hair make you feel awesome.

I stuck with the floral theme & wore my swing dress. It was a gift from someone lovely & I felt lovely wearing it. I have sort of stumbled into the 50’s look by accident. I must say I have zero regrets. I’m too fickle to devote myself to one style full time, but I’ll certainly be exploring this more.

Oh & this spring roll was delicious.

She wore blue velvet…

I took a little time out of being spoiled on Monday & snapped some pics. It was a bright sunny day & I was sporting a bright sunny outfit. So, click click.

Vest – Primark

This outfit was a bit of a rush job as I faffed around all morning & then had to jump in the shower with only 40 minutes left to get ready. I have to say though, I am quite pleased with the results. My all time favourite skirt, paired with comfy vests & galaxy leggings totally works.

The winner takes it all….

I broke out of the house for a couple of hours on Saturday night. I went to a local place for dinner with my BFF. It recently occurred to us that we’ve known each other for 30yrs, which is terrifying, but also completely lovely.

It was good to be out & even better to put on some cute clothes. However, my stupid brain forgot to tell me to photograph them . I did manage to snap a few selfies including one that both looked pretty & included my new favourite thing.

That brooch carries a superb sparkly embroidered, Thunderthighs are go. Jewellery does not get better than that.  It’s over, we have a winner. Go home non chubby loving trinkets.
