Pure shores….

A few weeks ago I went on a wee road trip with my sister, Billy & Seb. We set off on Sunday morning in dubious weather to check out Elie. It never fails to surprise me how beautiful Scotlamd is. We drove through glorious scenery, growing more excited as we began to spy glimpses of the sea. I had been craving the sea for a while, something about the endless sky & lapping water at the beach always calms me. 

On arrival the unpredictable weather was for once in our favour. The sun shone on our seaside floricks. Seb had an absolute ball meeting lots of new doggie friends & exploring the gentle waves. The two legged members of our party relaxed with a yummy picnic & some chat. We of course also took advantage of our surroundings for a blog shoot.

If you are a regular reader you will already have heard me complaining about the weather & my health. In case you missed it, I’ll catch you up really quick; it’s cold & I feel crap. These two factors have combined to make me crave slouchy, cosy layers. Obviously I still want to look lovely, lovely & so I have winkled out some bits that fit my brief.

I’m very keen to swathe myself in tactile fabrics that feel friendly against the skin. I’m also going for stretchy unrestrictive pieces to soothe my poor sore body & vibrant, quirky prints to maintain my nifty aura. In short, leggings, tunic, cardi’s & flats are what I’m gonna be rocking.

Wildflowers….

On Sunday I embarked on a wee visit to see my Mum, which descended into a mad wild goose chase. Much frustration & losing of tempers later we rescued the day with lingerie shopping & cake. 

It goes without saying that we also found time for a little blog shoot. I was tempted out into the wind by this bed of pretty flowers. I’ve become a bit of a wild flower devotee. Not only do I love their, well, wild beauty, the are a life source for our bees. If you weren’t aware, our bees are in danger & we really need them. 90% of vegetable crops depend on bee pollination. Those fuzzy bellied little guys are very useful. So, if you have a place to do so, plant some wild flowers. 

  
Anyway, after my own little detour, I will get back on point. I threw together a couple of items that were meant to see me through the a long hot summer, but actually require leggings & cardi to be wearable. In Scotland we work with what we’ve got. 

  
I’m glad this sheer shirt works with layers as I love it. It’s nice to know I can get some wear out of it as the seasons change.

Under the sea…

Last night I treated my darling Billy to tres yummy dinner at Cote. We indulged ourselves with all three courses & it was delicious. We also took the opportunity to have thorough gripe about all that is wrong out worlds. Well, the French are famous for being bitchy, right?  

 I went for a colourful cute look with plenty of room to accommodate my jam packed tum. I had been saving this mermaidy t shirt for sunny days, but it has become clear that summer ain’t happening, so I just layered it up.

Turning Japanese…

I haven’t been getting out a whole lot recently, but I have kept up sushi & cinema night. You can’t beat a blockbuster when your tum is full of avocado maki. For my latest edamame fuelled excursion I slipped on a classic.

I’m sure I don’t need to shout about the virtues of the black dress. This one  is the perfect casual, but cute example. I enjoy the way it allows my shape to show without clinging too all my wobbly bits.

Our viewing choice was Terminator, Genysis. I’ve never seen any of the Terminator movies & I was surprised at how much I liked this one. It’s a good turn your brain off action movie. You will enjoy this film much more if you don’t attempt to think about it too much, there are some major plot problems that are best ignored.

Ever since I saw a clip on Facebook I have been dying to see Luisa Omielan. If haven’t heard of her, she’s an hilarious feminist , body positive comedian.

My sister & I had an awesome night her show. I can not recommend enough that you go see her. Sge is exactly what I (& I’m sure many others) have been crying out for. A no holds barred, cut the bullshit take on life as a women. You will not only laugh, but leave feeling better about yourself.

To see my favourite comedian I wore my favourite skirt. I am glad velvet has made such a big come back. Rios little skater is just wonderful. I added a little bit of rrraarr with an animal print cardi, which was a gift from my very stylish Mum. 

I was very chuffed to get a selfie with the lady herself at the end of the night. Just look at my smile, that says all you need to know about the show.

 I took these pictures last week when Glasgow was still acknowledging summer. This dress is a little softer than unusually go for, but it instantly captured my heart. They also had it in black & I’m yearning for that one now too.

I know everyone loves this super straight hair look, but I hate it. In these pics my hair just looks flat & boring to me. I much prefer a bit of crazy in my lock. However, my accessories were spot on. Pale pride is totally a thing I’m on board with.

Earlier this year I invested in 50’s style underskirt to go with a swing dress. Little did I know how enamoured I would ge one with it’s flouncy loveliness. It feels amazing. With every movement I swing & sway. 

Me being me I am tickled by notion of mixing things that really shouldn’t go together. Thus the ultimate floaty skirt found itself teamed with an avid yellow vest & customised nirvana tee. 

   
One look that picture tells you all you need to know about how much one enjoyed this outfit. I wish I could feel like that everyday.

Everybody walk the dinosaur…

My photographer & I both had rough weeks. By Friday we were more than ready for a pick me up. The sun lured us outside for a cocktail & the prospect of dinosaurs coaxed us back in. 

  

A hot day calls for something floaty & this shirt dress was just the thing. Paired with a lace effect dress I felt chic, not to mention comfortable. 

Leaving the cinema to balmy summer’s night tempted us into a little blog shoot. I love photos taken in the last gasps of day light. That soft glow works for me.

The dinosaurs were marvellous. As with the others in the franchise Jurassic World seems to be very much on the side of giant lizards. I’m all for a summer blockbuster that’s telling humans to stop fucking with nature.

On a search for a nice place to walk Seb my sister & I stumbled upon this beautiful park. It’s local, but we had no idea how lovely it was. Anyway having found such a gem, we obviously launched an impromptu blog photo shoot. 

 
This outfit was actually flung together in an I must leave the house in 10 minutes rush, but I think it’s a winner. A perfect cute sunny day outfit. 

  

I found the skirt in a cool 2nd hand shop in Glasgow’s southside. The print & colours appeal to my hippy dippy side & also pairs great with my favourite cardi. Topped off with my ghostbusters t shirt it makes for an easy to wear ensemble for a chilled day.
