My week in pictures…

Last week started yuck with a viral bug, got a bit rocky with with hospital nonsense & finished up with a lot of lovely relaxing.

I’ve done a fair bit of lying in bed. Which might have led to a little bit of feeling sorry for myself shopping. Oh & eating bowl after bowl of broccoli soup to appease my damn stomach.

Soup, hospital band, soup, spunk rockstar

I had a hotel overnighter on Thursday & took advantage of being right in the city centre to get out a little. We saw a movie, spread some #projectpostit wisdom & snapped some pretty sights.

My week(ish) in pictures…

I know it’s boring to talk about the weather, but can you believe what’s going on outside? We’ve had almost 6 weeks of solid sun & it’s still showing up everyday! Needless to say I’ve been trying to make the most of it.

The Toyboy surprised me with a wee spa break last week. As you can imagine I was delighted. Fancy hotel, lovely treatments & yummy cocktails. Oh & of course it wouldn’t be a hotel stay without some sexy lingerie. Hotel sex is the best, right?

I can’t really handle too much heat, so indoor fun is essential if I want to avoid fainting. Yellow Movement Saturday at The Clutha was perfect as it is technically in doors, but the glass ceiling & tree in the middle of pub give an outdoor feel. The music was good, company even better. My particular favourite was Fnuf. If electronic reggae with a french hippie vibe sounds appealing you should check him out.

This weekend we took a trip out to Musselburgh to see some lovely friends & enjoy the sun. Lisa gives the best cuddles in the world, little James was cute as ever & Gordon revealed his wicked side during a game of Cards Against Humanity. Bar a bit of sunburn (I missed a bit with the sunblock) fun was had by all.

There has also been a dinosaur filled midweek movie, bubbles on the mound, project post it & lots of nail art.

I went swimming with my sis & bestie plus their adorable babies. Purchased the most incredible blue lilies & we did a spot of babysitting.

I hope you’re enjoying the summer as much as I am. Don’t forget your sunscreen.

Early bird gift guide…

I know I am getting into the Xmas chat a bit early & I apologise. I only do it because it takes me ages to get organised. I have loads of Dec birthdays & far off loved ones to send to on top of regular Xmas. The added complications of spoonie life means I’m usually already quietly Xmas shopping in October. I am certain there are others just like me out there, thus I thought some early gift guides might be useful.

I’m staring with this fairly random guide as I think most folk are a bit eclectic in their tastes. I find all those really specific guides a bit annoying because very few people fit in just one box. So, i have collated this bunch of cool, but varied gifts. I’m calling it, traditional eclectic, all the standard crimbo fare with some twists.

I may have mentioned before that christmas without velvet is just not on. Velvet clothes feel divine, so imagine how amazing this most tactile of fabrics would feel right next to your skin. Yup, velvet lingerie is definitely a sexy festive gift. Of course along with something to slink about in, something to slob in is also required at Xmas. Never underestimate the power of good jammies.

Hand in hand with nightwear go a really good book & this delightful cushion to lounge upon. I have become a bit of a cushion fanatic, but I think most book lovers would be pleased with this couch addition.

Everyone likes a bit fancy at Xmas time. Wether that be twinkling on your eyelids or quirky touches around the house.

eBay, Asda Home, Urban Decay (Heavy Metal).

Barry M, I want one of those, Pyro Pet, Ciate (Glitter Flip).

The rise of the christmas jumper in recent years has tickled my fancy. The sheer variety of festive knitwear means there is something to suit all tastes. Chocolate & jewellery are also Xmas staples. Again, if you look hard enough you can find some to please everyone.

Vegan Town, Marks & Spencer’s, Bonnie Bling.

As a kid I always had a holy advent calendar, so the idea of a vegan choc one really appeals to me. Making a statement with my accessories is so up my street, but sometimes I just want my baubles to look pretty.  There’s a bit of each here.

Rebel Circis, Marks & Spencer’s, Fuck the Tories.

If my haste upsets you, I get it. If however you have a massive Xmas list that you need to get ahead of, have at it.

She’s most accommodating when she’s in her lingerie…

Big boobs need good bras. When you’re an HHcup you just can’t get away with anything but excellent support. If you also prefer lingerie to granny bras your search narrows. If you’d rather not go bankrupt every time you require some new undies, well, the pickings are slight. Hence, my eternal quest for affordable & attractive homes for my breasts.

I am not averse to indulging in seductively expensive lingerie. I love an exquisite bra. Alas my purse is not as capacious as my brassiere & sometimes a budget must be adhered to. As I mentioned, I struggle to find pretty & supportive undergarments that come in a lower price range. So, when I find a new place to procure such items, I’m delighted. Thus, I was very pleased when the lovely folks at Simply Be invited me to try some pieces from their lingerie lines.
I opted for these bright lace bras. They come in a two pack in various colours including black & white. I’m a colour girl, so the pink/aqua appealed. I was initially a little dubious about how good quality these would be given their price (£26 for both), but I couldn’t have been more wrong.

Pretty Secrets, Ella.

These bras offer great support, give my breasts a lovely shape & look super cute whilst being comfortable. The lace detailing is pretty & the wider straps prevent them from digging into my shoulders. This is a near perfect everyday bra.

Additionally I selected a garment I wouldn’t usually choose; a light control slip. I’m not a fan of control wear in general, mainly because of the discomfort that accompanies wearing them. This one caught my attention for a few reasons. Firstly it was described as light & stretchy, which happily makes it very easy to wear. The fact that it sits under ones bra was another plus as it allows the flexibility of choosing whichever lingerie best suits the occasion. Finally, I have recently purchased a couple of dresses that I adore, but feel a tiny bit self conconscious about my tum in. Flying in the face of my distaste for shapewear, I love this. I wore it with an LBD on Saturday night & forgot that it was on. It did exactly what I wanted it to do, smoothed out the bumps on my stomach that sometimes bother me. The Magisculpt slip is another win.

‘Cos it’s raining….

I’ve been waiting to do my summer Wishlist for a while. I kept hoping summer would come back.  As it’s now July, i’ve resigned myself to the fact that the sun has left me for good.

For my Scottish summer picks I’m going for light fabrics that can be easily layered. So, lots of dresses, soft shirts & the occasional piece to fancy things up. I have also slipt in some items that I want for my next Australia trip. Brisbane never lets me down on the heat factor.

Yes, that is a dress with a hood; come to Mama. This season I seem to attracted to neutral & bright tones in equal measures. Fabric wise the concensus is tactile & super soft.

I’m loving splits & dip hems. Leggings are of course an essential when it might be really nippy outside. As always I will be playing with retro & contemporay styles. I have been desperately seeking a pretty bralet that can handle my boobs & I’m hoping this is the one. I’m thinking in Brisbane I can rock this on it’s own & here layer under a sheer shirt.

Florals & hippy chick lace spell out summer to me. I really can’t wait to get to Oz to float around with my Muffin in these.

Yellow converse will add a pop to any outfit. As will the caged bra lingerie. I love the bondage light look, it’s always fun when your underwear can double as outerwear!

There you have it. My most desired items for this summer. Now it’s time to get buying. Look out for which pieces make it into my body.

Oh & I have a new pink lipstick & a pretty rose gold nose ring. Aren’t I a lucky girl?

She’s so cold…

Oh man, it is cold. This will be my constant refrain until next summer (if we get one). So, if I have to be freezing for months on end I’ll be doing it in style. Enter my chilly wish list.

I am still enthralled by velvet, but camel & faux fur are quickly creepy into affections. I’m dreaming of a soft & warm winter; with a tiny wee splash of glamour.

And in a moment he’ll want to see your underwear….

I’ve always been into pretty lingerie. I think it started as a little girl, my Mum only ever wore beautiful underwear and when it came time for me to start wearing bras, she bought me gorgeous matching sets. I honestly believe I feel better knowing that under my clothes (be they funky or drab) I’m adorned with stunning undies.

Unfortunately delightful bras for big women are not always easy to come by. I am big busted & big in general, which makes locating the kind of bras I want tricky. The fact that I rarely buy bras without matching knickers is an added complication. I have found that most high street shops don’t do my size (40G/H) at all. The few mainstream places that do, for instance M&S, offer only a very small selection & some of those are usually granny bras. Even the more specialised places, such as Bravissimo don’t always accommodate my back size. This seems a fatal flaw to me as let’s face it, a lot of women with larger cup sizes are also substantial elsewhere too. This feedback was not well received by Bravissimo. They were keen to point out that they were not (god forbid) a plus size retailer . The stigma lives on.
Anyway, I thought I’d share some great brands that do cater to the plus size market. They all offer a wider range of styles & sizes. Which crucially are eye catching & alluring.

Goddess offers a great line in bold, comfortable, everyday bras. I don’t subscribe to white cotton daytime bra regime. I like colour & interest, goddess deliver on these points. Of course I also want to be well supported, another big tick. These bras also give me an awesome shape. I always feel confident wearing Goddess bras. I find these come up a little neat & order up a back size. They’re not cheap, but not super expensive either; at the £30 -£45 mark I consider them well worth the money. This is one of my favourites.

Another favourite of mine for day to day wear is Bestform. They are slightly more conservative, but still have flair. This bra has a houndstooth & polka dot pattern going on. My boobs do not budge in these bras & also sit very high. For a chick whose tits have lost the fight with gravity the allusion of perkiness is wonderful. Bestform are around the £30, which considering they last forever is very good value.

Panache is not a brand I ever thought I would buy as I consider many of their styles to be a bit dated & frumpy. However, I recently discovered their Superbra range & I love them. Great structure & aesthetics. I like this style so much I have bought it in a variety of colours. The great thing about these bras is they are not cut too high & they are sheer. I often despair at the limitations placed on what I can wear with bras due to how full the cup is. Whilst not quite balcony, these allow for low cut vest, dresses etc making them perfect for work or a big night out. The sheer fabric with embroidered design feels very sexy & adds a little oomph to my day or night. Priced £25 – £30.

I’ll finish up with a recent discovery, Pour Moi. This company have some sizzling hot lingerie. They’ve developed a sophisticated take on sexy and I love it. I adore anything that will make me boobs look irresistible & these bras do just that. Beautifully made with interesting details I cannot recommend this brand enough. They also offer the very rare plus size balcony bra. Give yourself (or your partner) a treat and indulge in something from their range. At £16 – £30 they wont break the bank. I promise you won’t regret it.
