Who you gonna call?……

On a search for a nice place to walk Seb my sister & I stumbled upon this beautiful park. It’s local, but we had no idea how lovely it was. Anyway having found such a gem, we obviously launched an impromptu blog photo shoot.

This outfit was actually flung together in an I must leave the house in 10 minutes rush, but I think it’s a winner. A perfect cute sunny day outfit.

I found the skirt in a cool 2nd hand shop in Glasgow’s southside. The print & colours appeal to my hippy dippy side & also pairs great with my favourite cardi. Topped off with my ghostbusters t shirt it makes for an easy to wear ensemble for a chilled day.

She’s in fashion….

This weekend was the launch of Edinburgh’s first fashion week. My sister & I decided to jump on train and check out all the stylish going ons. We caught  some catwalk shows, perused the pop ups & even discovered some lovely new boutiques.

Plus size representation was a little thin (ha! a pun) on the ground, but not entirely abscent. Hopefully fatties will have a bit more exposure later in the week.

Outfit wise, I slipped into my favourite LBD; a style classic. I went bold with red accessories & wrapped myself in faux fur for warmth. I felt rather excellent, a fact my clever sister managed to capture with her fancy camera.

Yellow light…

Last Saturday I awoke to lovely bright day. I was excited, perhaps winter was coming to an end. I raided my wardrobe for some bright & hopeful clothing. I came up with this yellow  & green combo, which I was loving. However, by the time actually made it out the door the sky had turned grey. Sensing an impending chill I added this lovely new cloakigan.

I also donned my new favourite thing, flatforms. I was rocking these delicious shoes first time around. There is something very pleasing about knowing your 14yr old self would approve of your sartorial decisions. I will absolutely be collecting some more flatforms. I think my next pair need to be higher to get that authentic early 90’s I might break my ankle feel.

Regardless of the weather we managed to have a lovely day. I accompanied my sister to get her new tattoo, which you can admire on her blog, Living in a boxx

Walking the dog….

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of taking Seb for another walk. I was joined of course by Seb’s Mummy & my darling Bil bob. We all had a really good carry on and the main man got a lovely long walk.

It was very cold, but the rain held off until just before we got back in the car. I opted for my standard winter strategy of layers. I have always been a tad cautious of horizontal stripes due to their notorious widening reputation. However, my mum bought me this vest top & I rather like it. That’s one more reason for me to ignore all those stupid fashion rules!

You can’t see them clearly in the pictures, but I was also wearing these amazing Asos poodle earrings.

Walking in a winter wonderland…

Yesterday was the kind of day I love. It was cold, but dry & the sun was shining bright. The perfect day for a wee winter wander with my best friend. At the end of our walk lay the fantastic Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum, which happens to be one of favourite places. We went in to check out the Alasdair Grey exhibit, which is excellent, go see it!

Obviously with snow on the ground I needed to wrap up warm & some lingering pain made comfort a priority. I also wanted to look rather nice & happily, I think I accomplished all three.

Faux fur coat – Primark
Scarf – Macy’s

This amazing faux fur (picked up
for a snip in the sales) teemed with my giant scarf & cost arm warmers protected me from the icy weather. A simple black top & leggings had ease covered. Which left the perking up to this beautiful floral print duster coat. All three components did their job perfectly. I felt splendid.

Our walk was so pretty that I can’t resist sharing a few snaps. If you’re local, Kelvingrove park is worth braving the cold for.

Step into my office, baby ….

I had a fairly important meeting last week & whilst I don’t really do corporate, I did want to look smart. I opted for this colourful, but almost conservative look.

Unfortunately I hated every single picture taken of this outfit, but have opted for the least offensive. Note the big, fat side bun, a recent innovation I’m enjoying.

Bag – Accesorize

This is my go to presentation bag as it fits my NetBook & everything else I need. I also love it’s giant tassel. The only downside is once it’s all in there it weighs a tonne.

The fire is so delightful….

We popped over to Dad’s on xmas eve & I took the opportunity to have an ootd pic by his festive fireplace. Dad always has lovely decorations & a very tasty selection of nibbly bits at Christmas time. Obviously a pretty dress was required for the occasion.

I decided to drift away from the traditional xmassy colour palette & opted for this rose print skater dress. I am feeling strangely drawn to all things yellow at the moment, which led me to the dress with this vibrant cardigan. I love the way it brings out the yellow in the dress, whilst simultaneously makes the purple tones really pop. I suspect my Dad is often bemused by my style choices, I thought I’d give him a xmas treat by putting my spin on one of his sartorial favourites. Enter my burgundy patent brogues & the most shoe compliments I have ever received from my Father. Great minds think alike, Daddy cool !

You’re hot then you’re cold….

I had to take a trip into town on Thursday & was faced with my usual winter problem. Bitterly cold outside & sauna hot in all of the shops. Why can’t shops turn down their heating? They know we’ll all have coats on.
Anyway, I opted for the chunkiest, cosiest best cardigan in the world. I have been dying to try out this fluffy skirt since I bought it, but haven’t been sure what to wear with it. I tried a hard and soft thing with the leather look leggings. I also debuted my shiny patent brogues. I love the colour, but I think they make my feet look really big. What do you think?
We took the pictures at one of my favourite places in Glasgow, The Gallery of Modern Art.

I get a little warm in my heart when I think of winter…

Saturday was one of those perfect winter days. The air was crisp, no sign of rain & cold enough to wrap up without fear of freezing your arse off. So, when my sister suggested taking her lovely Seb for a walk I jumped at the chance. I have actually been missing the Sebster, so it was nice to get a look at his handsome face. We decided to head to Pollok Country Park, which is an amazing piece of country right in th middle of the city. It’s also home to the Burrell Collection, a herd of highland cattle,Maxwell house as well as dozens of woodland walks. In short it was perfect for Seb to roam free & for us to get some cool blog photos.

This is a new look for me. I’ve always been very self conscious about leggings & worn with either skirts or tunics. This skeleton pair are crying out to have all their bones exposed, so I stepped out of my comfort zone. I mostly wanted to be comfortable and cosy for our walk. With this in mind I teemed the leggings with my Ghostbusters t-shirt (a childhood fav), layered cardigans & a scarf. My trusty sparkly boots stood me in good stead in the mucky park.

I have to say I am chuffed with these pictures. I am loving this fun casual look so much that I may well invest in some more statement leggings.

All within the smallest treasures…

I am led to believe that little treats can make a big difference when you feel rotten. This is a theory I am more than willing to try out. So, this week I indugled myself with some pretty bits and pieces. I wouldn’t say I’m cured, but my purchases have brought mini bursts of pleasure, which can not be a bad thing.
First up was a classic impluse buy. I was queing up in New Look to buy some christmas gifts & there it was looking all vibrant. I’ve actually wanted a matt lipstick for a while. Ever since I first clapped eyes on Lime Crimes Velveteen, matt has been on my list. Unfortunately I keep finding conflicting information on their animal ethics & so can’t in good conscience buy their rich beautiful lippy. Anyway, turns out I don’t need an premium brand as this New Look offering is really excellent & definitely cruelty free. It’s a rich slightly orangey red, which is deliciously smooth. A bargain that feels & looks great, I’m sold.

Next up is another super bargain. A delightful tartan scarf from Primark. Perhaps the cheapness of these items is actually enhancing their charm. There is something to be said for finding something you love for pocket change. Scarfs are a big part of my winter wardobe, I’m all for an extra layer of cosiness and interest. Tartan has been sadly missing from my neck attire. I am very pleased to have recitified that.

My final treasure is a Lush massage bar. Until recently I wasn’t aware that there was such a thing as massage bar, but now I am their number one fan. It’s basically a block of solid body lotion. It melts as you rub it onto your skin & has textured elements to help massage the muscles. I was capitvated by the Wiccy muscle magic. It’s a heady blend of cinnamon, peppermint, cocoa & shea butter with knobbly aduki beans for extra massage power. The smell is incredible. Although it doesn’t appear on the ingredients list, the overwhelming aroma is aniseed & it’s bliss. I have scar tissue, which seems to dry out really easily, this bar is quickly replenishing the moisture in my skin. Lush claim that the peppermint essential oils will soothe tired & achey muscles, i was dubious about this. Well colour me totally wrong, my achey limbs showed significant improvement after a good rub down. Wiccy magic indeed.
