Day after day…

If, like me you read a lot of blogs, you might wonder from time to time what bloggers look like in their down time. I follow lots of woman who look utterly amazing in their blog shoots. Whilst I’m usually a more low key chick, I thought I’d give you a wee glimpse at a day to day me.

My eyes are closed in about 80% of pictures taken of me. I have to pose for a startling amount before I actually look alive and awake.

Who you gonna call? probably not me as i’m creeped out by the supernatural.

This is my ‘it’s too hot for my ginger self and I may well melt entirely’ look.

German beer wench/pretzel lover.

Bronan often appears not because he takes an interest in what I wear, but because that’s his favourite snoozing spot.

I go a walking…

My body has been up to mischief again this week. My kidneys decided that what I really needed was another infection. So, it was more hospital antics & anti biotics for me.

Somewhere around the 2nd kidney infection I discovered that pacing was by far the most comfortable stance. Having thoroughly scunnered myself with traipsing up & down my hall I thought perhaps I should take my restless body outside. My trusty sister & Seb came to the rescue with a slow walk around the park.

Spring is putting on a fine show & getting out was a good call. Seb had a rare time sniffing, whilst Lauren & I talked about the mens.

I was aiming for heavy on comfort, easy on frump outfit wise. With that in mind I teamed my favourite flowing maxi with waist cinching belt. I also turned to some red lippy to further perk me up. I don’t know why it helps when I feel dreadful, but it sometimes does.

You’re my cup of tea….

My last spring coaxing post may have worked. We had a lovely mild & bright weekend, which gave me an opportunity to wear a pretty dress. My little sister got engaged last week. Needless to say I am excited, as are both the mother of bride & groom. So, we all went out for afternoon tea & talked weddings.

Dainty cakes & such a stunning venue called for a little effort. I whipped this beauty out of hibernation and launched operation pretty.

The cakes may have been delicate, but I am not.

January, don’t be cold…

If they made a movie of my life the tag line would be, One thing after another; which is an accurate summing up of this year so far. Hence, I have not been getting my blog on. Fear not, I’m back.

I finally managed to get done outfit pictures whilst having a wee sushi & cinema night. I’m chuffed with this outfit as it was pulled together from wardrobe scraps. The dress is just a simple jersey maxi that I have tucked & tweaked. Add a big underskirt & da da..

I also trialed this amazing blanket scarf from my super sister. It is ultra warm, which this cold fish needs. Another first wear was this bracelet. It has a sentimental quote that only really means something to me. I love it.

Pretty Flamingo….

I had a lunch date on Saturday with my Dad & Sister. We made the excellent decision to try The Butterfly & The Pig and the even smarter choice of ordering a delicious bottle of rosé. The food was fantastic. They also have tasty gluten free & veggie options, which was lovely for me. Anyway after much gabbing & laughing we emerged back onto to Bath St looking for a good photo spot.

After a little shopping & some head scratching we plumped for a wee lane. It offered us some protection from the wind whilst also being a funky urban backdrop.

My sister had her work cut out for her as I was dissatisfied with picture after picture. However, we eventually  hit on just the right pose & positioning.

I’m incredibly fond of my spikes. They take this basic Jersey top to the next level. I am equally charmed by this bondishy belt. Be that as it may, nothing compares to the love I feel for my flamingo hair clip. I’m not usually one to latch on to trends, but the flamingos I am seeing everywhere make my heart beat faster.

You’re gonna hear me roar…..

On Tuesday I decided to be a lady who lunches & of course shops a little too. I enrolled my wonderful best friend in the scheme & off we popped. We both managed to pick up cheery bits, including some glorious Mac newbies. I opted for their new eyeliner pencil in a vibrant green, with which I can’t wait to experiment (& review).

Since it has been snowing again this week I plumped for cute & cosy with a skater dress, maxi cardi combi. I decided to break some more of those darn fashion rules by mixing animal prints. I usually adore this leaping tiger dress, but I feel I look really out of proportion in these pictures. As you know, I’ve lost weight, but my boobs remain unchanged. The result is they look a bit if of control. I’m hoping styling the dress differently will return it to something I feel awesome in.

There is a rose in Spanish Harlem….

I nipped into town yesterday in a second opinion & random chat capacity. It was pleasing to get out & about in the world after a week of being mostly at home. Likewise it felt good to put done make up on & try some funky accessories.

I have been oggling flower crowns on other people’s head for ages. I finally took the plunge with this luscious red beauty. I am completely smitten, the search for my next crown has already commenced.

I am well & truly sick of winter, so I busted out this amazing jungly print maxi to brighten up my day. I got this dress for my Australia trip & I haven’t had it on since. I’ve no idea as I love everything about it.

I was trying out a new angle on this dress with my favourite belt. Unfortunately, it’s a little too big for me now. I shall have to fashion myself another notch before donning it again. I took a few snaps sans belt too. I’m keen on both looks. What do you think?

Hey, I put some new shoes on….

Unfortunately I am still ill. It’s frustrating & not a lot of fun. It also means that I haven’t been going anywhere other than medical appointments & the corner shop, which accounts for my lack of posts. I finally ventured out today to do a little shopping with my mum. It’s the first day in weeks that I have looked half decent, so I took a little selfie to share.

Almost everything I wore was a huge bargain; god bless 70% off sales. The t-shirt dress is incredibly comfortable & may well be my new favourite casual dress. I wanted to add some grey to my wardrobe now that it’s getting chilly, this works perfectly. The belt is also new & is basically the belt of my dreams. I may well wear it with everything.

My adorable new shoes also arrived today. I could not wait to try them. They jumped straight out of the box and onto my feet. I purchased them online from JustFab. I have been seeing a lot of their ads recently & was curious. Their every pair for £35 struck me as little too good to be true. However I was pleasantly surprised after having a neb. Their heels aren’t really my thing, but I loved their flats & boots. As an introductory offer I got a two pairs of shoes for £35, which is an excellent deal by anyone’s standards. I am totally satisfied with the quality & fit. They also have a large selection of non-leather shoes, which is great for veggies. The small disadvantage is that you have to remember to log in every month & declare if you’re not buying anything, otherwise they charge you (the charge is applied to your account as credit). Other than that I would definitely recommend giving JustFab a bash.

Take from me, my lace….

Last weekend a sunny day lured me into a window shopping trip with sister. My darling sibling wanted to check out some luxury items, so we took a wander around Frasers & scoped out their designer offerings. She actually really wanted to investigate some Louboutins, but there were a complete lack of the iconic shoes. Disappointed, we moved on to a little high street sale rummaging. We both did well in sticking with the looking not buying position until we made the mistake of entering Primark.
The weather & their summer stock conspired against us, we both left with armfuls of bright, funky seasonal pieces. At Primark prices it is just too hard to resist.

Shopping done we headed to one of my favourite haunts to snap some photos. This beautiful red sandstone building is home to The Polo Lounge, Glasgow’s best gay club. I have been enjoying its architecture, atmosphere & beverages for longer than I care to admit. This shoot (ha) sparked an idea to take my blog pics at favourite spots around the city. Stay tuned.

My lace skater had its debut for this outing. I loved it when I saw it on the website, but when it arrived I was uncertain. However once I got it one, I was swooning over it again. I added a belt & some contrasting red bits and felt I rocked it.

I also have some adorable new glasses (more on them soon), which finished off this look perfectly.

Talking about a revolution…

Last Thursday I celebrated Fashion Revolution Day by attending my first clothes swap. The event was held at Glad Café ( next door is Glad Rags vintage shop, also worth checking out). The fashion revolution objective is to get people thinking about where their clothes come from & if the people making them are being treated ethically. They also want people to consider recycling, reusing & buying from ethical designers. All ideas I am happy to embrace.
From a plus size point of view I’d say there is probably a gap in the market in this area. Cool, ethically produced designs rarely come in larger sizes. This is a great shame, but I feel confident that we are in a period of change & this section of the fashion industry will soon catch up.
The swap itself was fun. I met some congenial bloggers & surprisingly managed to find some cute items. There were not many people of a similar size as me at the event so I didn’t have high hopes. In the end my swag included a cute casual dress & mini skirt, but the prize piece was this darling little bag. Just on the right side of cutesy & my absolute favourite colour.

So, what did I wear? I donned a bargain I picked up in a mid-season season sale that I have been dying to road test. I am all always up for a bit of leopard print especially when teemed with red. So, that is exactly what I did. I felt good in this dress, sexy & not at all self-conscious. I added my trusty pony belt to properly show off my shape & some little red flats for comfort. I think next time I wear it I’ll vamp it up with some really high red heels & a slinky red kimono. I hope to wow a certain someone.
